Sarah Calderon
Executive Director
Sarah Calderon has both a B.F.A. in Printmaking and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Michigan. In 2000, she earned a Master of Arts degree (M.Ed.) in Arts in Education, with a concentration in Administration, Planning, and Social Policy from Harvard University.
Throughout her career, Ms. Calderon has been an artist-in-residence teaching photography and printmaking for organizations including Chicago Printmakers Collaborative and Gallery 37 in Chicago and Opera Piccola in Oakland, CA. Between 1994 and 1997, Ms. Calderon worked with High/Scope Educational Research Foundation in Michigan teaching project-based and service-learning to at-risk youth. Between 1997 and 1999, she worked as the Schools Coordinator for the Alternatives, Inc. School-to-Career Initiative in Chicago. At Alternatives, she was responsible for building relationships between industries, community organizations, and schools.
In 2000, Ms. Calderon joined MPR Associates, Inc. and as a Senior Research Associate worked on program evaluation, policy analysis, curriculum design, and teacher professional development, concentrating on middle and high school reform. Ms. Calderon also served from 2002-2004 as the Vice President of the Board of Directors for Opera Piccola, an arts education nonprofit organization in Oakland, CA. Most recently, she worked with the NYC Department of Education's Office of the Arts and Special Projects as the ArtsCount Advisor, implementing the first comprehensive review of arts in schools across New York City and creating an arts accountability system.

Ron Terner
As the founder and director of Focal Point Gallery (since 1974) and president of Focal Point Press (since 1984), Ron has put together more than 100 exhibitions over the years. Terner has had numerous exhibitions in the United States and in Latvia, France, Mexico, Norway and Russia. Terner is the winner of the BRIO award {Bronx Recognizes Its Own} 2005 and in 2007, and has lectured throughout the United States on his technique of photo chemical painting he calls the PhotoTern. His work is held in many permanent and private collections, in the United States and abroad. He also teaches black and white photography, digital photography, fine art printing, and Photoshop classes at the Focal Point Visual Workshop located at the City Island Community Center.
